eSIM compatibility

Two things decide whether a naviroam eSIM will work on your phone: the device must have eSIM hardware, and it must be carrier-unlocked. Dial *#06# — if an EID number appears, you have eSIM hardware.

Compatibility questions

How do I check if my phone supports eSIM?
Dial *#06# on the keypad. If an EID number is listed alongside the IMEI, your phone has eSIM hardware. On iPhone you can also check Settings → General → About → EID, and on Android under Settings → About phone → SIM status.
Does my phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. A carrier-locked phone will reject a third-party eSIM profile. Ask your home carrier to unlock the device before you travel.
Can I keep my normal SIM while using an eSIM?
Yes. Modern phones run a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time. Keep your home line active for calls and SMS, and set the travel eSIM as your mobile data line.
Do iPhones bought in mainland China support eSIM?
No. iPhone models sold in mainland China ship without eSIM support. Hong Kong and Macao models of some generations are also dual-physical-SIM only.
What if my phone is not compatible?
Contact us at hello@naviroam.com before installing. An eSIM that was never installed and cannot work on your device is refundable.
